Budleigh in Bloom is a volunteer group, funded by Sponsors, Friends, donations and plant sales. It consists of Volunteers and Friends with a committee that meets monthly to keep things running smoothly. We look after 80 planted units, ranging from single troughs to flower beds to planted boats.
Budleigh Salterton is a small coastal town in the East Devon National Landscape with a strong community spirit. With a population of approximately 5,500, it forms part of the Jurassic Coast and is recorded in the Doomsday Book 1086. Today it is a popular town with visitors having an interesting high street of independent shops, cafes and restaurants. The beach is well known for its ‘Budleigh Buns’ which are the large, smooth, disc-shaped pebbles that make up the famous beach. Framed by the striking red cliffs, it attracts swimmers, paddleboarders and fishermen. The eastern end features the newly created wetlands with the beautiful River Otter Estuary. The annual Music Festival features a wide-ranging programme of musical events in local venues, and The Literary Festival runs a Spring weekend and the main Autumn event. Both attract huge crowds to the town and it’s a wonderful opportunity for Budleigh in Bloom to showcase our efforts. |
